Solomon I. Opara is a born educator with more than thirty years of working experience in the field of education. “The journey of a thousand miles” they say “starts with a step”. This career started in a little beginning after his primary education, his desire to teach, lead children and touch lives was born. To realize this dream, he stepped up his formal education by attending a college of education after his secondary school education.

This boost found him with students in Junior Secondary school Miya, Bauchi state, where he taught them Mathematics, Integrated science and imparted discipline in them for ten years. A strong desire to touch more lives led him to relocate to the south-south area of Nigeria, Port Harcourt to be precise. He found himself in a school whose motto is ‘success through hard work’. He made it a success indeed by serving as a Mathematics teacher and secretary to the timetable committee. He eliminated every subject clash which led to hitch free teaching and learning process in the school. As a standard maintenance, he was relocated to the primary section as the head teacher in order to forestall the existing standard of the secondary section in the primary section. Examination malpractice was fought against with all strength.

“But when it pleased God to separate him…, he conferred not with flesh and blood”. The right time came for him to reach a wider generation through Deeper Life High School and the door of employment was opened to him in September, 2012. The task of transforming upright leaders through high quality and sound education started. He embraced thirty (30) periods of Mathematics in order to lay the foundation of students who are to be successful in life. Like Oliver Twist, more was given to him: Chairman of Quality Control and the school’s chaplain. After two years, he was a year tutor and member of the management team. A higher national call came to him to serve as Quality Control team under the headquarters which after four months gave way for a more important and urgent need. He was called alongside six others to propose what it would take to start a school. This led to him being sent to Aba as the ‘Chief Accounting Officer’ to see to the smooth takeoff of the ‘new campus’. In September 2016, DLHS Aba in Abia state came on board with him as the principal.

His hobbies are visitation, singing songs and counseling. He is a product of Soro primary school, Bauchi state (FSLC) between 1970 and 1976, then Government Secondary School, Darazo (SSCE) between 1976 and 1981. Then he proceeded to Federal College of Education, Okene for his NCE program between 1983 and 1986. He went for his degree (B.Ed.) program at the University of Port Harcourt between the year 1990-1997.

His other certificates are: Mathematics Educators Refreshed Course (2013), EIN Educational Services on Global Best Practices Certificate Award in Professional Development Training for school management by the university of Oulu, Finland (September 2022).

With the experiences he gathered from Local Government Education Management Board, State Teachers’ Service Commission, then in private school (for a minimum of fifteen years) and finally in Deeper Life High School, Aba, he is ready to produce students who are academically well grounded, morally upright and adequately equipped as future leaders.
